The Junior World Series got underway in Nové Město na Moravě on Thursday with the Junior Short Track races, and it was Connor Wright and Anja Grossmann who claimed the opening victories of the weekend.

Men Junior
Australian Connor Wright took a commanding win in the Men Junior XCC, crossing the line in 15:24 to edge out Noa Filippi (France) by the narrowest of margins. Finnish rider Niko Terho completed the podium in third, just one second back.
Women Junior
Swiss rider Anja Grossmann of Trinity Racing claimed victory in the Women Junior XCC in 14:40, with American Sophia Wellmeier finishing three seconds back in second. Czech rider Barbora Bukovská rounded out the podium in third.
Czech fans had plenty to cheer about with four riders finishing in the top 13 of the women's race, while the USA dominated the men's field with six riders in the top 20.
Racing continues on Friday with the Under 23 Short Track races before Saturday's Elite XCC showdown — which sees the return of Tom Pidcock & Puck Pieterse to the mountain bike circuit.
