The 2022 Elite European Championships are taking place this week in Munich, Germany. The event will take place over 2 days with the Men racing on Friday 19th August and the Women competing on Saturday 20th August. The XCO races will run within the 11 day schedule for the Championships that includes events from all different sports.
Venue & Course
The Elite XCO races will be taking place in the heart of the Olympiapark venue that was built for the 1972 Olympic games in Munich. The course will feature many natural sections around Olympiapark as well as a bridge over the iconic lake Olympiasee. There will also be some tough climbs and rocky descents on the 4.3km long course.
Men’s Race
The Men’s race will take place on Friday 19th August at 17:00 local time. 64 men will compete to take home the European jersey that they will be able to wear at any Elite XCO race. There are some big names set to compete, these include; Titouan Carod- winner of the last round of the UCI MTB World Cup, Luca Schwarzbauer, Tom Pidcock – the reigning Olympic Champion and Filippo Colombo.
British Men
There will be 2 riders competing for Great Britain, these are; Tom Pidcock and Cameron Orr.
Women’s Race
The Women’s race will take place on Saturday 20th August at 12:00 local time. 51 women will compete for the European Champion title and jersey, these riders include; Alessandra Keller, Jolanda Neff – current Olympic Champion, Mona Mitterwallner, Loana Lecomte and Anne Terpstra.
British Women
The only rider competing for Great Britain will be Isla Short.
